Hidden Christians imigrated to Aosagaura, a northern part of Nakadorijima Island on the middle of the Goto Islands, from the Sotome region during the Edo era. Entering the Meiji era, around 1878, the first cathedral was built by Catholics. the present Aosagaura Church is the third cathedral designed by Yohei Tetsukawa. It is designated as a national important cultural property.

Dozsaki church is a Catholic cathedral on Fukue Island, which a priest was first stationed in and was built on the Goto Islands after the abolition of the Christian ban. The church commemorates St. John Goto, one of the 26 saints of Japan, and was designed by Father Peru, constructed by Yokichi Nohara and Yosuke Tetsukawa.
