The Santa Maria Maggiore cathedral is one of Roman 4 big basilicas,and it belongs in the territory of Vatican City. This cathedral appears in the central part of Rome, after walking 5minutes from the Termini station.

There are not more excursionists there than in Roman downtown, because it is the only cathedral built out of Roman ramparts in 4 big basilicas.
