When he arose, he took the young Child and His mother by night and departed for Egypt, and was there until the death of Herod, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying, "Out of Egypt I called My Son." (Matthew 2:14-15)

St. Michael Abbey (Aswan)

St. Michael Abbey is a Coptic church located in Assouan where is in southern part of Egypt called Nubian district. Assouan is famous for the place where the Aswan High Dam was built, about 500km south from Cairo. The Coptic church is the christianity developed in Egypt, counted as a sect of the Orthodox Church. It is said that St. Mark preached the Gospel to Egyptian at the time of the first church in the 1st century. Egypt has an impression of Islamic country, but there exist even now about 5% of Copt.
